The New York Times has an article covering the ins and outs of exercise and weight loss designed to give you a better understanding of exactly what exercise can do for you.

Aside from detailing the outcomes of different exercises, like which workouts will burn the most calories or which will improve your metabolism, the article also focuses on a few factors that are out of your control, namely your body type. In the end, there are a lot of factors in your control that can help you get in shape or lose weight, but there are also quite a few factors out of your control. A better understanding of each should help you more realistically set and achieve your fitness goals.
