Top 10 Luxury Condo Complexes

Posted on February 5, 2007. Filed under: Top 10's |

Once viewed as entry-level real estate with poor investment potential, condominiums are enjoying an unprecedented renaissance, and the more luxurious the better. In 2003, a condo in Manhattan’s Time Warner Center sold for a record-setting $42 million, and in 2006, buyers snapped up all 464 condos in the Trump Tower Waikiki within eight hours, even though they will not be available until 2009.

What’s behind the excitement? Many aspects of the condominium lifestyle have become increasingly attractive. For example:

  • Having an established residence in a vacation city eliminates hotel hassles.
  • Urban locations provide convenient access to the office, theaters and shops.
  • As opposed to apartments or co-ops, ownership allows the freedom to remodel.
  • As second homes, they require little maintenance.
  • 24-hour security provides worry-free time away.
  • There are numerous luxurious amenities to make your life easy and comfortable.

Here’s a look, after the jump, at the top 10 luxury condominium complexes in North America, with location, investment potential, sheer pleasure, and that certain je ne sais quoi as parameters.

10 surprising six-figure jobs

Posted on August 22, 2006. Filed under: Advice, Employment, Top 10's |

Want to make six figures? You’re probably thinking you’ve got to work on Wall Street or at a law firm, or have gone through years of medical school, to earn that kind of a salary. While all that helps, we found some surprising jobs that pay $100,000 or more. Even for those without an advanced degree, there are ways to hustle for a big paycheck.

Time-tested skills are still in demand. If, for example, you think typists are as outmoded as typewriters, you’d be wrong. A skilled typist who’s willing to train intensely to get up to about 200 words a minute will qualify to be a court reporter — a highly specialized skill always in demand. There are only 50,000 to 60,000 of them in the United States, according to Labor Department statistics, and job openings are expected to grow steadily through 2010.
